Hello there guys, today I will be sharing to you how iCMS was created.
It was January last year when I have my own laptop. Then one day, I have nothing to do with my laptop since I don't have access to internet since I don't have the guts to purchase pocket wifi device. During that time, I have planned to purchase a device so I checked the market price of the device and together with an unlimited internet plan. Presto I have found a Php 699 monthly internet plan with a one-time fee payment for the device of Php 1499. So I started saving cash for it. Before January ends, I have found out that I cannot really manage my cash since I cannot remember some of my cash transactions in a day.
So on February 2, 2014, Sunday, I initiated using the excel file where I can record my daily transactions. The file was still unnamed until July 31, 2014 because the term "Cash Management System" was formally used on August 1, 2014 (the birth of CMS v4.0). Therefore, the unnamed ones were termed as "Cash Management System". Since it was February when I have the first CMS, it was called: Cash Management System (February) with version number 1.0 Beta Test File (BTF).
Since then, I declared February as the birth of my Cash Management System, now, known as innovative Cash Management System (iCMS).
Going back to the story, it was February 2, 2014 when I started using the CMS 1.0 BTF. The file looks like this:
As you can see it is pale-looking, and there were some
The first one is the Php 112 Challenge Sheet (Transactions Sheet on iCMS 1A). You might wondering why is it it was called Php 112 Challenge well in fact it was for recording purposes. This is because in able to purchase the items on March at least I have to earn Php 300 a week to cover the Php 2098 expenses on March. To make this possible, I only have to spend Php 112 for weekdays and Php 70 on weekends so I set a Target Expenses on the sheet (3rd column in the picture above). The sum of the expenses will not equal with the recorded total on the sheet because Internet and Etc. categories were excluded in the Total because I want to see if I can only spend Php 112 without those expenses since soon I will be having my own internet connection.
The result of the challenge is the colorful part of the system. The system has the target savings column that will show the user-defined target savings (the numbers in blue fill color) and the actual savings in the Weekly Total rows.
The second sheet is the Daily Expenses that shows the actual transactions therefore all expenses were deducted in the allowance and will show the allowance balance on each day as what you can see on the picture above.
There were already Cash Count in the CMS v1.0 BTF but it was scheduled weekly (every Sunday) and you can see also that there were dates on March because the v1.0 BTF is primarily made for the months of February and March. The reason for not using the BTF for March was discussed on my older blog.
The last sheet is the Cash Balance sheet. It summarizes the cash transactions during the month and compare the cash balance computed and the actual cash balance.
In my experience using the file, I became more conscious to my expenses and be able to obtain something material from the allowance I receive every week. I may failed to obtain the device on March but I realized it on June so it is not bad.
You might wonder how this CMS v1.0 BTF evolve into iCMS 1A v7.1.2 in just one year. From my experience as a user of the system, my information needs are taking the higher level making the iCMS better and better as time goes by. If you want to know you can visit my other blog.
